Sautee Nacoochee is recognized for a number of landmarks and attractions. Although there is technically no downtown area, the community is centered on Georgia State Route 255. This is where the Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center is located, which provides art classes and programs for the community. Also in this area is The Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia (a little museum with exhibits that showcase folk pottery, new and historic), and the African American Heritage Site (a restored property from 1850 which has been transformed into a museum).

But Sautee Nacoochee’s most popular attractions are located west of this region, off the Unicoi Turnpike. The Nacoochee Indian Mound and its marker preserve important area history, and although visitors are not allowed on the mound itself, it makes for beautiful photos. Across the street is the Hardman Farm Historic Site, a historic home offers tours of the grounds and the property itself.

There are also two wineries around Sautee Nacoochee, both of which offer tastings. For those who are a little bit more adventurous, Nacoochee Adventures is the region’s highly-rated ziplining center. Other area highlights include Smithgall Woods State Park and its adjacent hiking trails, Anna Ruby Falls Recreation Area, Unicoi State Park and Lodge, and Mount Yonah in the south.

Right next to Sautee Nacoochee is Helen: a small town with Bavarian-inspired architecture and attractions (such as its ever-popular waterpark). East of Sautee Nacoochee is Clarkesville and Demorest, while Cleveland is located just to the south.
