Dahlonega is a charming, sprawling city surrounded by numerous rivers and beautiful, hilly terrain. The city has a long history and is perhaps most well-known as a gold mining city, but is also the site of the University of North Georgia campus. Now, it is considered a lovely place to live for outdoor adventurers and retirees.

When it comes to the real estate market in Dahlonega, the overwhelming majority of listings are single-family homes, with some opportunities to purchase vacant lots and land. And while those searching for their dream cabin home have plenty of choice, detached homes in this city are far more often built in traditional styles—which include Craftsman, Farmhouse, and Cape Cod.

Construction dates for homes in Dahlonega vary, with a number of the properties having been built in the 1990s. However, Dahlonega is expanding quite rapidly, and prospective homebuyers will find a lot of new construction homes on the market. Achasta, which is a new, gated subdivision located in the south end of the city, has been constructed on the golf course. This neighborhood consists of luxury homes that are, again, built in traditional styles, as well as Craftsman townhomes with quite generous square footage (upwards of 3,000 square feet).

Prices also range, with older homes typically being priced lower than new construction homes. While some homes might require some updating, they often feature some exceptional locations, with either large lots and/or mountain views. The Dahlonega real estate market overall has properties available for sale at lower prices than other cities, which makes this a great option for a wider range of buyers—as homes still come with the most desirable features.

Luxury homes for sale in Dahlonega are truly special. With large lots, incredible square footage, and luxurious amenities, these homes offer so much for their price point. Even homes under the million dollar mark offer multiple bedrooms and bathrooms and forested lots—and usually sit at around 5,000 square feet. Luxury homes can go up to 8,000 square feet, and have spectacular features, which can include in-home saunas, outdoor pools, additional buildings (that can be rented out), mountain views, and so much more.
