"The Showplace of the Cherokee Nation", built by Chief James
Vann, a very interesting character himself. The home includes
beautiful Cherokee hand carvings, many fine antiques, and an
intricately carved "floating staircase" that is one of Georgia's
earliest surviving examples of cantilevered construction.
Nearby Chatsworth is Fort Mountain State Park, a 3,712
acre park situated in the Chattahoochee National Forest close to
the Cohutta Wilderness area and features 70 tent and RV sites,
15 cottages, a 17 acre lake with a swimming beach, picnic
shelters, 14 miles of hiking trails, 18 miles of horseback
riding trails, 30 miles of mountain biking trails, a miniature
golf course, fishing and paddle boat rentals.
The
Cohutta Wilderness is a 36, 977 acre tract of National
Forest land near Chatsworth. Activities such as hiking, camping,
and horseback riding through the serene mountains, green
forests, and flowing rivers of the wilderness are available.
If you enjoy playing golf, then you will be happy golfing at
Indian Trace Golf Course. The most beautiful 18
hole public golf course in North Georgia. Built on hilly
terrain, this scenic course features great landscaping with bent
grass greens, Bermuda fairways, and water hazards coming into
